Rudy Eugene Dowdy Sr., 74, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, at his home, with his family by his side.
He was born Jan. 25, 1944, in Bellefontaine to the late Edward Rudolph and Dianna May Garman Dowdy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon St. Clair; andhis sister and brothers-in-law Irene and Ronald Tudor, William Stevens and Joseph Jackson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia “Ginger” Yvonne Robb Dowdy; and their children, Rudy (Debbra) Dowdy Jr, Tonya (Ed) Haley and Jared (Sherry) Dowdy; sonin- law, Greg St.Clair; his sisters, Barbara Dowdy, Sandra Williams, Pamela Jackson, Becky Smith and Beth Dowdy; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Rudy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for 54 years. He was a hard-working husband and father and retired from Daido Metals after 42 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, trains, birdwatching, hunting, and target shooting. He was also a Boy Scout leader. Nearing the end of his life he loved watching his evergrowing family and spending time with his friends. He will be loved and missed always.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, at Jennings Farley and Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory, 5591 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, where visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9. Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Boy Scouts of America and Universal Home Health and Hospice.
