Donald Frank Herndon, 89, of DeGraff, passed away at 6:05 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2018, at his daughter Annette’s home.
He was born in Logan County on Aug. 12, 1928, to the late Frank O. and Lorada Lorton Herndon. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice Herndon; a grandson, Nathaniel Herndon; a sister, Marybelle Linet; and a brother, Richard Herndon.
Don is survived by three daughters, Marilyy (Terry) Persinger of North Carolina and Cynda (Bruce) Weeks and Annette (Sam) Harpest, both of DeGraff; a son, Donald (Lydia) Herndon of Texas; 10 grandchildren, Bryan (Tracie) Persinger, Melissa (Tom) Grigsby, Jason Persinger, Shelley (Chad) Perk, Kerri (Eddie) Hoffmeier, Jenni (Troy) Stratton, Nicholas (Amanda) Herndon, Emily (Jim) Yelton, Holly (Gus) Biederman and Adam Harpest; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Euanna Herndon; his former wife, Wanda Herndon; her children John, Tom, Julie, Tracey and Angel; and his beloved dog, “Poochie,” who was always by his side.
Don was a 1946 graduate of Jackson Center High School. He worked at Monarch in his early years and was in sales for many years before he retired. He loved being outdoors, gardening and tinkering with clocks.
A graveside service begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, in Greenwood- Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
