Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report an Indiana woman has succumbed to injuries she sustained in a crash Sunday, April 27, at the intersection of U.S. Route 33 and State Route 274.
Susan K. Storms, 75, of Ligonier, Ind., died Friday, May 3, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Ind., deputies said.
She was a passenger in a U-Haul single unit truck operated by Cleveland E. Storms, 79, of Ligonier.
Deputies report Laura A. Lewis, 79, of Grove City, was operating a southbound 2013 Lincoln MKT about 1:50 p.m. on S.R. 274 and stopped at the stop sign for U.S. 33.
Lewis then made a left turn to go eastbound onto U.S. 33, and traveled into the path of a westbound truck operated by Cleveland Storms. The car was struck on the driver’s side by the truck.
The crash report does not indicate that Susan Storms was transported from the scene.
However, Cleveland Storms was transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries.
Lewis and a passenger in her vehicle, Wanda Bussard, 87, of Groveport, also were transported by Indian Lake EMS and Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital. Deputies said Lewis sustained serious injuries and Bussard sustained minor injuries.
Deputies said all four occupants were wearing their seat belts. Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.
This is the third fatal crash in Logan County this year.
