Three members of the Zanesfield Petanque Club traveled to the Carolina Petanque 5th Annual BBQ Festival two-day tournament in Lexington, N.C.
The team of Justin Bo Johns and Mohamed Boulahoual won the tournament for the third straight year.
There were a total of 24 teams in attendance from North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Texas, Ohio and Louisiana. There were four qualifying games on Saturday and one on Sunday, with the field then ranking into a 16-team Main Concours and eight-team Consolante.
After all qualifying games, there were only two 5-0 teams. The ZPC team of Justin Bo Johns and Mohamed Boulahoual ranked first with a +49 and Newark Petanque Club + 26. Shannon Hodge (ZPC) and Shirley Jones (CP) where 3-2 after qualifying.
Both Zanesfield teams met in the quarterfinal with Johns and Boulahoual winning 13-5. The duo then won the semifinal 13-2 and the final 13-3 to win the tournament.
