William “Bill” Kenneth Wingfield, 67, of Kenton, formerly of Ridgeway, passed away at 11:28 p.m. April 11, 2016, at The Kobacker House, Columbus.
He was born June 19, 1948, in Defiance, to the late Billie Kenneth and Maryann Gustin Wingfield.
He first married the former Bobbi Osbun and they divorced. He then married the former Christie Mullady and they divorced.
Bill is survived by his children, Jason (Charissa Kayler) Wingfield of Kenton, Kimberly Wingfield of Powell and William “Bill” (Kathleen) Wingfield of Rossford; brothers, Charles (Judy) Wingfield, Robert (Barbara) Wingfield and Thomas (Marjorie) Wingfield, all of Kenton; grandchildren, Samuel Fries and McKynzie, Gavin and Grant; and his special friend, Sandra Jean Deringer of Forest and their dog, Sadie.
A 1966 graduate of Ridgemont High School, Bill received his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1970. He was a claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance and a farmer.
He was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 1994, OSU Alumni Association, Ridgeway United Methodist Church and was a previous member of the Kenton Moose Family Center 428. He was a past leader of the Kenton Chapter of AA and continued to be an active member of the chapter and sponsored numerous members over the years. He also was a company commander of the 251st transportation Army Reserve Center in Kenton.
A member of the United States Trotting Association and the Ohio Harness Horseman’s Association, he was part owner of Limelight Beach, the 2014 Little Brown Jug harness race winner.
He was an avid OSU fan.
The Rev. Scott Johnson officiates a funeral at 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home, where visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in Hale Cemetery.
