The Logan County Joint Drug Task Force arrested a Sidney couple with a significant quantity of powdered heroin and/or fentanyl following a Friday afternoon traffic stop.
The arrest of Megan R. Caskey, 26, and Jeremy Couchot, 34, came as the result of a drug investigation, Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds reports.
They were stopped about 2 p.m. Friday on west Sandusky Avenue near Troy Road with the assistance of officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
A search of the vehicle turned up the suspected drugs, which must first be analyzed to determine if they contain heroin, fentanyl or some mixture of substances, the sheriff said. Various drug abuse instruments and $400 cash were also seized.
Each were charged with felony possession of drugs and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Caskey reportedly gave a false name.
Two minors in the vehicle, children ages 4 and 9, were transferred to the custody of Logan County Children’s Services after no adult relatives could be contacted to retrieve them.
