Today’s educators are teaching skills to prepare students for jobs that don’t even yet exist, Indian Lake High School educators were told Monday during a professional development day seminar.
Smart mobility, autonomous vehicles and high speed fiber technology is only about a year away now, according to a presentation from the Logan County Chamber of Commerce.
“There’s all this technology coming and we need people to create it, run it and maintain it. There’s nothing else like this in the world,” chamber CEO Paul Benedetti said.
Innovation by the Transportation Research Center in East Liberty means that as early as next year driverless vehicles equipped with sensors will be on the highway sending information to the Ohio Department of Transportation on highway conditions; to the Ohio Highway Patrol for traffic information; and to private companies to develop further smart automobile technology.
