Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department arrested a drunk pedestrian early Sunday morning following an incident along west Columbus Avenue.
Deborah Bodenmiller, 58, of 555 Newell St., Apt. 33, reportedly was identified as having passed out in the back of a vehicle that did not belong to her in the vicinity of the Beer Vault, 149 W. Columbus Ave., about 3 a.m. Sunday, according to a call to police.
Eric Petty, owner of the Beer Vault, and an employee there, Jesse Harmon, told police that Bodenmiller had said her ride home had left without her, and they were working to get her a ride home, and someone to stay with her because of her level of intoxication.
Police sought to question Bodenmiller about suspected trespassing in a vehicle that did not belong to her, but she refused to comply. She had reportedly moved from the rear of the vehicle she was found in, to Petty’s vehicle, and refused to leave.
She was forcibly removed by officers, and would not hold herself up at all.
Once in the rear of a cruiser, she was lodged in Logan County Jail without incident.
• Katelyn Roby, 30, of 426 Kent Drive, Apt. 5, was charged with drunk driving and a series of traffic citations following a traffic stop that occurred about 2:30 a.m. Saturday on south Main Street.
Officers on patrol reportedly observed the suspect turn the wrong way onto one-way Carlisle Avenue. Police also registered her rate of speed in excess of 45 mph on south Main Street.
Criminal indicators were observed during the traffic stop, and a field sobriety test was administered and was not successfully completed.
She was arrested and transported to the police department, where she consented to a breathalyzer test. Her blood-alcohol content registered .18, according to a police report.
She was given a summons for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and for the traffic citations and released to a sober friend.
• Ryan Irwin, 38, of 305 Kennedy St., was arrested and charged with drunk driving and traffic violations including failure to control after a traffic stop on south Main Street.
Officers on patrol were flagged down and stopped about 12:35 a.m. Sunday in the Taco Bell parking lot, 2079 S. Main St., and advised the driver of a vehicle currently making its way through the drive-thru “wreaked” of alcohol. Police were told the driver had to be wakened up twice to complete his food order.
The suspect reportedly drove over two curbs while exiting the parking lot, and committed an improper turn and a number of moving violations as he proceeded northbound along Main Street.
A traffic stop was initiated in the parking lot of Route 68 Grill, 1141 S. Main St.
A strong odor of alcohol was reported coming from the suspect’s vehicle and a field sobriety test was administered.
He was eventually arrested and charged with OVI. A breath test registered a .162 blood-alcohol content.
• Christy Beightler, 44, of 533 E. Brown Ave., was arrested and charged with public intoxication after she was found stumbling along southbound Plumvalley Street about 11:15 p.m. Saturday.
Officers were dispatched to that location following a report of a woman striking a light-colored vehicle, and reportedly banging her head on the vehicle. Upon their arrival, officers found the suspect walking southbound from that area, approaching the railroad tracks.
She was found to be very unsteady on her feet, and admitted to having consumed several alcoholic beverages throughout the day. Her eyes reportedly were very bloodshot and glassy.
Officers charged her with public intoxication and she was lodged in Logan County Jail for her own safety.
• Kasey Lee Blackburn, 35, of 433 Walker St., and Amy Conway, 35, of 116 N. Stanley St., were arrested early Sunday following a traffic stop in the area of the 800 block of Rush Avenue.
Officers on patrol reportedly were addressing a bicyclist about 2:50 a.m. in the parking lot at Tri Point Automotive 626 N. Main St. that was riding unsafely about the roadway when the suspect’s vehicle proceeded out of the same parking lot, driving over a curb and onto Rush Avenue.
Officers followed, and observed a number of other reported marked lanes violations as it weaved on Rush Avenue.
Both female suspects were determined to be under the influence of alcohol. A field sobriety test was administered to Blackburn, the driver, and not successfully completed. She also told police her driver’s license was suspended because of a previous OVI.
Conway was afforded a chance to find a sober person to come pick her up, but was unable to do so. She was lodged in Logan County Jail, and charged with public intoxication.
Blackburn was charged with OVI, driving with a suspended license and marked lanes violations. At the jail, she refused a breathalyzer test. She was released to a sober person.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
