The Indian Lake Board of Education wrapped up business for 2020 and offered many thanks in a short December monthly meeting.
Superintendent Rob Underwood recapped the recent Positive Behavior Incentives and Supports awards presented to Indian Lake Elementary School and Indian Lake Middle School. Last week, ILES received a Silver State Award and ILMS received a Bronze State Award during the Virtual Ohio Department of Education PBIS Showcase, as previously detailed in the Examiner.
In addition, Underwood praised the PBIS efforts happening at Indian Lake High School.
“Our high school is really hitting its stride, as well. That tends to be the hardest age group to get PBIS in place, but our staff is really doing a nice job at the high school level and we’re seeing a positive impact on our discipline numbers.”
Underwood went on to publicly thank the Indian Lake staff, students, parents, community, Logan County Health District and Board of Education members for their continued support.
“We made it through the entire semester in-person…Just being here everyday and having the opportunity to have our kids in school, I want to thank you all for that.”
In other action, the board accepted several routine motions to round out the evening:
- • extended a one-year limited contract to elementary custodian Daniel Kirkpatrick;
• approved Lindsey Imm as a 21st Century Grant student supervisor paid at a rate of $40 per hour paid by the 21st Century Grant;
• accepted a $1,000 anonymous donation to the Student Needs Fund, and accepted the donation of $375 to the Class of 2015 Memorial Scholarship Fund from the Cardinal Health Foundation.
• approved the annual renewal of the Ohio School Boards Association Membership and Subscription Fees of $5,898;
• approved the 2021-2022 Indian Lake High School Course Description; and
• approved the revised Record Retention Schedule recommended by the Ohio History Connection State Archives of Ohio Local Government Records Program.
The Indian Lake Board of Education will gather for an organizational meeting on Monday, Jan. 11, at 5 p.m. to set the schedule for 2021. Gabe Wickline will serve as president pro-tempore for that meeting.
