Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were able to peacefully resolve an 11 p.m. disturbance Monday in the 200 block of Grant Street.
An unnamed caller told dispatchers a man was behind his home in a camper threatening to kill himself and that he was armed with a handgun.
The suspect was highly agitated when officers arrived and would not talk with them over the phone nor exit the trailer.
Officers persisted and finally got the man out of the trailer and into temporary custody.
They found no evidence of gun. He showed the officers text messages with the female caller which were angry but without threats of self-harm.
Based on interactions with the man and review of the text messages, officers believed the man was not a threat to harm himself or others.
Investigation continues into the original call to police.
