A Dunkirk man was arrested for public intoxication after causing a disturbance in a vehicle following the Indian Lake fireworks on Saturday night.
Austin T. Navarro, 23, was taken into custody about 11:30 p.m. after deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office directing traffic near Van Horn’s curve at the intersection of state routes 235 and 366 were approached by a distressed mother.
She said her son, Navarro, was heavily intoxicated and trying to leave her car on foot with his young daughter.
The suspect was advised to calm down and was given opportunities to leave with his mother, but he refused to do so. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
James L. Chesser, 59, of Richwood, was charged Saturday with disorderly conduct after he was observed urinating in the parking lot of Froggy’s, 11065 Township Road 293, Lakeview, around 12:05 a.m.
He was released to friends who took him home.
• Joshua T. Martin, 42, of Leipsic, was arrested for criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct after a 6:30 p.m. Friday disturbance at Froggy’s, 11065 Township Road 293, Lakeview.

Motorists face OVI charges
An out-of-county driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving while driving home from watching fireworks early Sunday morning.
Deputies report Justin Ander, 43, of Beavercreek, reportedly ran a red light while turning onto south Main Street in Lakeview about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to reports, the suspect balked at a series of field sobriety tests, claiming a bad knee. He initially told deputies he’d consumed only one beer, before acknowleding he’d had, “like two.”
An odor of alcohol and slurred speech were observed from the suspect, who was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/and or drugs, following too closely, running a red light and endangering children, as the suspect’s 8-yearold son was in the backseat at the time of the traffic stop.
He has two prior OVI arrests in 1997 and 2015, deputies report. The suspect refused a breath test at the Logan County Jail, and was given a court date and released to a sober person.
• Matthew James Leopold, 40, of Lakeview, was arrested and charged with OVI, a marked lanes violation and failure to wear a seat belt following an early Sunday morning traffic stop near the entrance to the Indian Lake State Park.
The suspect reportedly was northbound on State Route 235 when patrolling deputies observed him travel left-of-center.
The suspect admitted to drinking that night, and during field sobriety tests, he reportedly gave up and conceded, “just take me to jail.”
He was given a court date and released to a sober person.
• Erica McCarthy, 27, of 11900 County Road 87, Lakeview, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after a deputy on patrol had to take evasive action to avoid colliding head-on with her southbound sport utility vehicle at 1:15 a.m. Saturday on State Route 235 near Lake Drive at Indian Lake.
Upon speaking to the driver, the deputy detected an odor of alcohol.
Field sobriety tests indicated she was impaired and, once at the jail, she provided a urine sample for testing.
She was cited for driving left of center.
• Mark Houseman, 43, of New Carlisle, was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after a 7 p.m. Sunday traffic stop.
He was pulled over after reportedly failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of State Route 235 and Township Road 293.
Deputies noticed signs of intoxication and began field sobriety tests. After a short time, Houseman refused further tests and also refused a breath test.
He was taken into custody on the OVI and was issued a citation for a stop sign violation.
