John B. Moorman Jr., 44, at large, was arrested Friday for violating a protection order and charged with menacing by stalking and possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia.
He also was issued traffic citations for driving under suspension and no license.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report Morgan Moorman had lodged complaints that her estranged husband was blatantly violating a protection order issued in Shelby County. He would send text messages, call her and drive by her 912 Ohio St. home but officers were unsuccessful in catching him in the act.
At 10:30 a.m., they were told he was parked in alley east of the victim’s home. Officers were able to converge on the area and observed him driving a pickup truck in the alleys near the residence.
A traffic stop was initiated and the defendant was taken into custody. The department’s K-9 unit was called to the scene and canine Boodik alerted to the vehicle. Inside officers found a grinder with marijuana residue and digit weight scale. A portable safe was located and taken to the department where Boodik again alerted to it as possibly containing drugs.
Officers filed for a search warrant to open it in the presence of a judge.
The defendant was lodged in Logan County Jail.
On Sunday, two days after he was bailed out of jail, Moorman returned to his estranged wife’s home around 9:10 a.m. He was arrested outside her home.
He complained of injuries from a fight the previous night. A Bellefontaine squad responded and transported him to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment. Upon his discharged, he was arrested and lodged in jail. Another charged for violating a civil protection order was filed along with menacing and aggravated trespass.
• Robert Wilson, 36, of 401 S. Detroit St., was charged Saturday with criminal trespass.
Officers were called to 817 Heritage Court, Apt. 70, at 12:50 a.m. and met with Ciara Feasel. She told them she ended her relationship with Wilson that night and told him to stay away.
Wilson showed up and entered the apartment uninvited. He was confronted and left when told police had been called to the apartment.
He was located at his home and charged.
Teen violently beats mother
A 13-year-old city boy was lodged in Logan County Juvenile Detention Center for delinquency felonious assault, which is a second-degree felony for an adult, and domestic violence.
Officers were called to the east Columbus Avenue residence on Saturday and met with the boy’s mother after neighbors relayed that she told them she had been beaten by the boy.
The victim tried to cover up her injuries which included severe swelling around her left eye and her bottom lip which was bloodied and cut open.
She would not cooperate with officers and allow them to take photographs of the her injuries or damage to the door and door jamb to her room. She did tell them she was asleep when he attacked her.
The boy was not home when officers visited at 3:10 a.m.
The victim refused medical attention and told officers she could take care of herself.
An officer conducted a wellness check nearly 20 hours later and found the boy at home. He admitted to hitting his mother and was taken into custody.
Woman faces theft charge
Donna M. Holbrook, 58, of 230 Midway Ave., Lakeview, was charged with theft Friday afternoon when she attempted to take a radio wristwatch and bottle of bleach from Walmart, 2281 S. Main St.
