put Triad away with a dominant third quarter Tuesday, using an 11-4 surge to pull away for a 51-37 victory in a non-league girls basketball game.
The Pirates improve to 6-1 on the season and the Cardinals fall to 4-6.
Riverside held a 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Pirates edged the Cardinals 10-8 in the second quarter for a 25-19 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, Riverside pushed its lead to 13 points at 36-23.
The Pirates stayed in control in the fourth quarter.
Allison Knight sparked the Pirates with 14 points, Lauryn Sanford had 12 points, Jade Copas tallied 11 points and Olivia Perk added eight points.
Cati LeVan led the Cardinals’ efforts with 16 points and Frani LeVan tallied nine points.
In junior varsity action, Riverside beat Triad 61-29. Kylie Shoe had 17 points to power the Pirates, Kaelen Copas had 16 points and Keianna Notestine added 10 points.
Cayla Eaton led the Cardinals with 11 points and Cami Allison had seven points.
Riverside is back on the court Monday, Jan. 4, at Cedarville. Triad hosts Madison Plains on Wednesday in an Ohio Heritage Conference game.
