The process of major roof repairs began Wednesday, May 8, at Indian Lake Schools. Several roofs on campus revealed major hail damage in the days and weeks following the March 14 tornado. Community members may have noticed a large crane at Indian Lake Elementary Wednesday, as crews were placing materials on top of the building. Next week, they will start replacing the roof on the ILES gym and cafeteria. The repairs are expected to take about three weeks and insurance will cover the cost. In addition, the district is working through the insurance company claim process for needed repairs to several other hail-damaged roofs including the media center and kitchen at ILES and a large portion of the roof above public spaces at Indian Lake High School. District officials said the hope is that those repairs will be done this summer. (Indian Lake Schools PHOTO)
