John H. “Jack” Bailey Jr., 87, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at his home.
He was born Oct. 29, 1929 in Toledo, a son of the late John H. and Lourine Wonderly Bailey.
On Nov. 12, 1955, he married Belvetta G. (Jordan) Bailey in Edgerton, and she preceded him in death on July 19, 2002. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Edward and Robert Bailey.
He is survived by two daughters, Deidre (Steve) Oliver of Herriman, Utah, and Sara Freid of Sacramento, Calif.; four sons, John H. (Mitzi) Bailey III of Bryan, Christopher (Rachel) Bailey of Santa Clara, Calif., William (Sandy) Bailey of Columbu, and Andrew Bailey of San Francisco, Calif.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Hennel of Delphos; and a brother, Richard Bailey of Deland, Fla.
Jack was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor for International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Navistar in Springfield for 40-plus years before retiring in 1992. He was a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and served on several committees at the church. He also belonged to the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, AMVETS and the Moose lodge, all of Bellefontaine. He volunteered for the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard for many years and, along with his wife, assisted the Our Daily Bread and St. Vincent De Paul programs.

Father Shawn Landenwitch and Deacon Harold Dipple will celebrate a memorial Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bellefontaine. Inurnment follows in the columbarium in Calvary Cemetery, Bellefontaine.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charities of the donors’ choices.
