Indian Lake and Benjamin Logan’s wrestling teams combined for 12 district qualifiers after competing at the Tippecanoe Division II sectional super draw site Friday and Saturday.
The Lakers led the way with seven individual qualifiers and finished third as a team at the Tippecanoe 1 sectional, while the Raiders had five individual qualifiers, including two champions, and finished fifth as a a team at the Tippecanoe 2 sectional.
The top four in each weight class advance to the Division II district tournament Friday and Saturday at Wilmington High School.
Indian Lake had three finalists in for the championship and five top three finishers, but ran into standouts from Graham in each of those weight classes.
Advancing for the Lakers were Hunter Wolf (126), Chance Daisy (145), Dylan Knotts (160), Connor Dixon (170), Zach Palmer (182), Cole Mefford (195) and Steven Major (220).
“We were happy for the guys that stepped up and moved on,” said Indian Lake head coach Ryan Dickson. “Next week is what we’ve trained for since November, so we’re excited for the guys and the opportunity that is right in front of them.”
