Helen Irene Spence Foughty, 95, celebrated her earthly birthday with her loving sister, daughter-in-law and dear friends at Campbell Place November 2, 2022 then proceeded to continue her celebration in heaven with the Lord and her loving family in heaven.
Born November 2, 1927 in Mingo, Ohio to Ross Spence and Florence (Williams) Spence Littrell. On June 22, 1947 she married the love of her life Harry “Bud” Foughty. They lived in West Liberty, Ohio for many years and had two sons Robert “Bob” Foughty and Gregory “Greg” Foughty. All of whom have proceeded her in death.
Helen was a loving wife and mother. She had a variety of jobs over the years. A love of singing in the choir and making crafts, she was especially known for her scrubbies. She graduated from North Lewisburg High School in 1945. Also, she was a member of the United Church of Christ in West Liberty for more than 70 years and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Helen was a fun-loving, high-spirited soul until the very end, even when her dementia tried to rob her of her memories, she was still a lively spit fire. She will be missed by many, especially her dear sister and best friend Mabel Jean (Robert) Thompson, her daughter-in-law Sherrie Foughty and those special people who cared for her at Campbell Place.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2022, in the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, Ohio with Pastor Arnold Collett officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Burial will follow Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio.
