Logan County native, John Phillips Horn, age 83, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 2:45 PM at Ohio Living Dorothy Love. He was born on January 18, 1939, to the late Harold H. and Marjorie (Phillips) Horn. He was raised by his dad and stepmother, Louise Headings Horn.
John worked at Navistar for 24 years, retiring from there in 1996. He was a talented individual having built and remodeled numerous houses in Bellefontaine and Logan County and enjoyed wood working. His family often relied upon his ability to “fix” mechanical things too.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalee, whom he married in 1983. Also surviving him is his daughter, Johnna Horn of California, daughter-in-law, Loni Horn, Rosalee’s children, Laura & Andy Burton, and Aaron & Kelly Fogt. Also surviving are grandchildren Dani & John Willis, Ashley & Ricky Burris, Shelby Smith, Jake Horn, Nick Burton and Connor & Peyton Burton, great grandchildren, Colton, Tucker & Millie Willis, Rylee and Addisyn Burris, sister Marge & Max Younce of Walnut Grove, MN, in-laws, Ron Pusey, Rachel Larger, Roberta Pitts, Ruby & Bob Sibert, and Teckla Harshbarger.
He was preceded in death by his son Jamen Horn, an infant son, Jon Scott Horn, and the mother of his children, Connie Horn, sisters, Merry Lu Pusey and Nancy Stringer, in-laws, Jim & Carol Harshbarger, Ed Larger, Joe Harshbarger, and Dan Pitts.
John attended several schools in Logan and Shelby Counties, graduating from Huntsville. He was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks, having served as exalted ruler in 1979.
He and Rosalee enjoyed several winter months each year in North Port, FL, where he was an active member of Living Waters Lutheran Church. He also attended First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine. He was a devout Christian. We will miss him but share his faith and the promise of eternal life. He will be remembered for his work ethic, integrity, and subtle sense of humor.
