Geraldine “Gerri” Piatt, 88, of Mason, passed away Tuesday, Dec.20, 2016, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Ga.
She was born in West Liberty on Oct. 21, 1928, to the late M.G. and Edna Lovett Willits.
Gerri married Ben S. Piatt on Jan. 26, 1947, in West Liberty, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2006. An infant brother Richard Willits also preceded her in death.
Gerri is survived by her daughter, Sonjia (Don) Lambeck of Newnan, Ga.; two sons, René Piatt of Hamilton and Kevin (Theresa) Piatt of Medina; sister LaDonna Gantz of West Libery; aunt, Erma Shultz of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Emily Lambeck (Cole) Simmons of Newnan, Ga., Justin Piatt of Colerain, Jordan Piatt of Hamilton, Brianna Piatt of New York City, Sarah Piatt (Dan) Smith of Kailua, Hawaii, Jacob Piatt of San Diego, Calif., Stephen and Jeremy Piatt of Medina; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Zane and Bruce Simmons, Olivia and Allison Piatt and James Smith; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors
A 1946 graduate of Monroe Township School, Gerri was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Mason. She worked at Milligan’s Hardware in Bellefontaine for 20 years. After Milligan’s sold, Gerri worked for Daring Chevrolet until 1972. She and her husband then moved to Warren County, where she worked for various automobile dealerships as title clerk and bookkeeper for 32 years. She retired in 2004.
Gerri was Past Worthy Matron of the Sarah Elizabeth Chapter, Eastern Star; was a member of the Ohio Hardware Association, and was selected as Mrs. Ohio Hardware 1962. She was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and Ohio State football.
The Rev. Kevin Stainton officiates a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty, where calling begins at noon prior to the service. Burial follows in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.
