Kenton High School student Layton Rogers, 16, of Dola, was killed Monday evening when the car he was driving was struck by a southbound CSX train at 3:50 p.m. at a railroad crossing on County Road 60, south of Dunkirk. According to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Rogers failed to yield for the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Coroner Dr. Larry Kuk. The crash remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Multi-County Crash Investigation Team, Dunkirk Fire and EMS, CSX Railroad Police and Minich’s Towing.
