CLARK COUNTY — Troopers of the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are currently investigating a crash involving a pickup and semi tractor-trailer that claimed a Springfield man Monday evening.
Christopher Nawman, 28, reportedly was partially ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers report that he was operating a westbound pickup on Interstate 70 westbound near milepost 51 about 7:40 p.m. He reportedly drove off the left side of the roadway, struck a median cable barrier, crossed into the median, spun out and re-entered the roadway traveling northbound in the westbound lanes.
His pickup was struck in the passenger side by a commercial semi driven by Balwinder Singh, 51, of Streetsboro.
Mr. Singh was treated at the scene and released.
The crash closed two lanes of I-70 westbound for approximately five hours. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Mad River Township Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
