Mark January, 22, of Richwood, was charged with obstructing official business and providing false information to an officer issuing a traffic citation during a traffic stop about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office reportedly observed his vehicle while on patrol in the village of Huntsville on Lima Street near Fourth Street, and discovered that his vehicle had an expired registration.
The traffic stop was initiated in the 4800 block of State Route 274.
The driver, January, at first provided deputies with a false name and birth date, and also admitted that he did not have a driver’s license.
Deputies were able to determine the driver’s identity and found that he had warrants out of Knox and Marion counties.
He told deputies that he had been afraid to give his real name because of the warrants.
The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail. He also was cited for driving under a non-compliance suspension, expired registration and failure to reinstate.
