Bellefontaine’s Chris Parker won the street stock feature to highlight Saturday’s racing at Shady Bowl Speedway.
There were eight different feature winners, with Parker capturing his first street stock main. Rodney Roush, Jason Mahaffey, Phil Gussler Jr. and Josh Way rounded out the top five. Rodney Roush was the fast qualifier, with Gussler winning the dash and Ryan Burch and Rob Schaeff taking heat wins.
In the late models, Cody Robinson set the pace for the first 16 laps as Don Mahaffey Jr. gave chase. Mahaffey took over on the 17th lap and went on to get the win. Former track champion Matt Parsons was second, Robinson was third, Jim Lewis Jr. took fourth and Ryan Fleming finished fifth. Kenny George Jr. won the dash and Jacob Muncy was the heat winner.
Jordan Sage made a late move to the front, passing Chris Hensley right at the finish line to win the compact feature. Nick Barrett finished third, Austin Eaton was fourth and Rob Taylor IV finished fifth. Charlie Hoepker and Chase Lang took last chance wins.
Two special races were added to the scheduled. The first was “The Minor Back to School Race” for young drivers. Michael Litchfield was the winner.
The next special was the “Old Timer’s” race. It was open to drivers from 39 to 99. Bo Hoelscher of Riverside earned the victory.
The Thunder Cars were next. Fast qualifier Scott Drake of Xenia won the feature marking his first Thunder Car feature win. Patrick Woods, Hunter Hicks, Brad Blue and Scottie Marquis filled out the top five. Andy Pine thought he had a top three finish, but did not report to the scales for post race inspection and was disqualified. Peyton Burba won the dash. Hicks was the heat winner.
A ladies race was added to the Thunder Stocks, with Leslie Woods taking the win over Becky Moore.
The final race was a 100-lap enduro . When the dust had settled Beavercreek resident Tyler Mahaffey earning a trip to victory lane. Zack Beaty-Lakins was second with Nick Barrett third. They were the only cars on the lead lap.
Racing returns to Shady Bowl Saturday as there will be a ladies compact race. It will also be “Nurse’s Night,” with all nurses admitted to the grandstands for free with proper ID. Racing begins at 7 p.m.
