A Bellefontaine man accused in four separate cases that primarily involve exchanging stolen firearms and other merchandise for drugs admitted his guilt last week in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
Steven L. Burk, 67, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of drugs, having a weapon under disability and illegal conveyance of a drug onto the grounds of a detention facility.
He was first arrested in April 2015 after a raid by the Logan County Joint Drug Task Force.
The detectives had coordinated drug buys at Mr. Burk’s 816 W. Sandusky Ave. residence and executed a search warrant on April 24. During the search, they confiscated numerous firearms and other merchandise they believed to be stolen and fenced to the defendant in exchange for drugs. A substantial amount of heroin was also located.
A charge of having weapons under disability was filed in August after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department served a warrant at the home and discovered a loaded weapon.
Additional charges of a similar nature were added in November.
In February, the illegal conveyance charge was added after Mr. Burk attempted to smuggle 27 prescription opiate pills into the Logan County Jail in the arm of his wheelchair after he had been released on a medical furlough.
He will be sentenced July 25.
