Alyce I. Wilson Yoder, 96, of Bellefontaine, died at 11:23 a.m. July 29, 2017, at Logan Acres in Bellefontaine.
She was born July 15, 1921, in Champaign County to the late Herman and Ethel Wilson. She was married Dec. 16, 1941, in West Liberty to Albert C. Yoder and he preceded her in death 63 1/2 years after they were married.
She is survived by daughters, Julia (Lowell) Stevens of Urbana and Janet Brown of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Molly McCumons of Anna, Margaret (Lance) Sennett of Waynetown, Ind., Jason (Jen) Brown of Bellefontaine and Julie (Bill) Berry of Clearwater, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Allison, Bryce and Brady McCumons, Ellie, Emily and Claire Sennett, Lexey, Brix and Daxby Brown and Breckin Berry; along with several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Wilson; one sister, Ruby Webb; and a son-in-law, Michael Brown.
She worked for Figley Drugstore and Green Hills Child Care Center, both in West Liberty, but her main job and focus was that of a dairy farmer’s wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Even though she worked off the farm, she would still come home each night and help in the fields and/or around the farm.
She was a 1939 West Liberty graduate. She was a member of the West Liberty Methodist Church where she was a charter member of the choir and a member of a quartet. While living in West Liberty, she was known for her cooking (graham cracker pudding was served at every family/holiday meal), crocheting, meticulous flower beds and garden, singing, sitting on the front porch with Albert and visiting with all of their neighbors, both big and small. She led a humble life, but was rich in her love of Christ and an even deeper love for her family.
Pastor Lee Ortman officiates the funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty, where visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
