Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report two drivers and two passengers were transported to area hospitals for treatment of serious injuries following crash involving a semi tractor-trailer and two other vehicles Thursday evening.
Driver John D. Fultz, 56, and his passenger April L. Fultz, 49, both of Bellefontaine, were transported by Huntsville EMS and BMRT EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital, and then were transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Driver Jeremie S. Robinson, 35, of Lakeview, and his passenger, Curt M. Leatherman, 36, of West Mansfield, were transported by Indian Lake EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital.
Deputies report Anthony Ansill, 37, of Versailles, Pa., was operating an eastbound semi on U.S. Route 33 at Township Road 99 about 6 p.m. during snowy and icy conditions. He reportedly lost control of the semi and began to spin counter clockwise, striking a westbound 2006 sport utility vehicle operated by Mr. Fultz.
The Fultz vehicle then went off the north side of the road, coming to rest in a ditch.
The semi continued spinning counter clockwise and struck a westbound 2003 Ford pickup operated by Robinson.
The semi’s trailer separated from the tractor, and overturned onto the Robinson vehicle.
Ansill did not report any injuries and was wearing his seat belt. Deputies are still determining seat belt usage for the injured individuals. Damage was heavy to all three vehicles, which were towed from the scene.
The crash closed U.S. 33 in the area for about three hours. Deputies continue to investigate and have not yet issued any citations.
• Deputies also responded to a weather-related non-injury crash about 12:35 a.m. Friday on State Route 235.
Kelsie L. McCormick, 22, of St. Marys, was operating a northbound 2018 Chevrolet Equinox in the area of County Road 52 when she drove off the right side of the road on a curve, striking a ditch and coming to rest in a field.
She was wearing a seat belt and damage was light to the vehicle. No citations were listed with the crash report.
• Shelly D. Trein, 53, of Huntsville, did not report any injuries in a crash during snowy conditions about 5:25 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies report she was operating a northbound 2019 Kia Forte on U.S. Route 68 and attempted to turn west onto County Road 57. Due to the snow on the roadway, she slid off the road into a ditch. Damage was light to the vehicle and the driver was wearing her seat belt.
