Tracy L. Wright, 53, of Columbus, was cited for failure to control after a tractor-trailer rig he was driving hit and snapped off a fire hydrant around 5:30 p.m. Thursday at High Avenue and Detroit Street.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report he was northbound on Detroit and turned eastbound onto High. The trailer traveled over a curb and hit the hydrant located in the southeast of the intersection.
• Marsha D. James, 67, of Bellefontaine, was cited for improper backing after she backed her sport utility vehicle into a car when a traffic light at Water Avenue and Main Street turned red around 2:25 p.m. Thursday.
She was eastbound waiting to turn northbound but backed up when the light turned red. She did not see a car behind her and backed into the front of it. Damage was light.
The other motorist was Amy M. Lehman, 53, of Bellefontaine.
• Joshua D. Zahller, 26, of Bellefontaine, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead after a 5:45 p.m. crash Thursday in the 100 block of east Sandusky Avenue.
His eastbound car hit the rear of an SUV operated by Donald R. King, 47, of
Bellefontaine. Damage was light.
• William M. Hoon, 41, of Belle Center, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead after a 7:55 a.m. Wednesday crash at Columbus Avenue and Madriver Street.
His eastbound car reported slid on ice and hit the rear of a car operated by Hannah J. Hartsel, 29, of Bellefontaine. Damage was light to the Hartsel car.
• Jerad P. Ranly, 40, of Bellefontaine, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead after a 4:18 p.m. Wednesday at Madriver and Sandusky.
His car struck the rear of an SUV operated by Amy J. Good, 42, of Kenton, who had stopped for a passing emergency vehicle.
Damage was light.
Parked car damaged by suspect
Officers are investigating a damage complaint filed Tuesday.
Around 7:45 a.m., a resident in the 600 block of Henry Street reported that a black male wearing a red coat was walking up and down the street yelling. The suspect left the area but soon returned carrying a log.
The log was found on the drive’s seat of a car registered to Christopher Powell, 608 Henry St. The driver’s side window was broken and there was a dent in the rear driver’s side door.
