In spite of the pandemic, Indian Lake Schools marked a major milestone of in-person learning Wednesday, when pupils celebrated the 100th day of school with a variety of physical and academic activities.
Indian Lake Elementary Co-Principal Molly Hall said 100 days is always worthy of a celebration, but reaching it this year gives her an extra sense of accomplishment.
“I’m so thankful we have conducted classes on campus during this time. Despite some illness and quarantine situations, we know in-person learning is the best way to educate our students.
“I’m very proud of the ILES staff for adjusting and adapting to the COVID-19 challenge. We continue to wear our masks and sanitize daily so that we can make it through the rest of the year.”
During the celebrations, students got to choose from several fun tasks, such as 100th Day Bingo that incorporated the number 100 including licking a lolly pop 100 times, running in place for 100 seconds and tossing a beanbag 100 times.
They also performed academic tasks including writing numbers to 100, counting 100 beans, and naming patterns to 100.
First-, second- and third-graders also created bulletin boards with their writing activities detailing 100 reasons they love school at ILES.
Kindergarten students reached their 100th day of school Thursday.
