Wilbur E. “Butch” Roby, 76, of Lakeview, passed away Wednesday, Jan.13, 2021 at his home.
Wilbur was born on March 20, 1944 in Kenton, a son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Evelyn Mae Young Roby. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Dale Roby.
On Dec. 31, 1965, Butch married Nancy Driskill and she survives along with four children, Cindy (Robert) Ferkins of Dola, Roben Roby of Lakeview, Penny (Michael) Ramsey of Bellefontaine, and Tracy (Daryl) Pennington of Melbourne, Fla., 11 grandchildren, David Pennington, Paul Pennington, David Ramsey, Jason Ramsey, Savannah Ferkins, Rhiannon Amweg, Adam Roby, James Pennington, Crystal Pennington, Deyon Lane and Tiffaney Spearman, 20 great grandchildren, Ava, Mason, Garrett and Finnick Pennington, Shawn, Kaleb, and Layla Pennington, Ezra Ramsey, Emilia Ramsey, Helina Schroeder, Daylon, Max, and Skylar Lane, Tabitha, Gary, Nick, and Conner Pennington, Zeppelin Amweg, Gavin Boehm, and Triston Roby, a great-great grandson, Tristan Phelps, three siblings, Donna (Stanley) Price, Robert (Mary) Roby and Nancy Roby, and several nieces and nephews.
Butch was a 1962 graduate of Kenton High School. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army. Butch was a life member of Doyle R. Miller Amvet Post #39 in Lakeview. He enjoyed being active including fishing, racing motorcycles, square dancing, playing poker and visiting Las Vegas, golfing, watching sports, listening to Bluegrass music, and most of all, spoiling his grandchildren.
A gathering of remembrance will be Thursday, Jan. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview. Inurnment will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, in Hale Cemetery, Mt. Victory, with military honors performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions in Butch’s name may be given to Logan County RTC or Interim Hospice of Lima.
