The West Liberty Bicentennial Celebration Committee continues plans for the July 6 through 9 festivities in conjunction with the village’s 200th birthday.
Businesses are asked to create patriotic displays for the observance. It is asked that a list of businesses previously operated from the site be included in the display.
Additionally, nominations are being accepted for the village’s oldest pioneer (must have West Liberty address, include complete birthday, length of time lived in West Liberty); favorite farmer (must have West Liberty address and nomination must include a 100-word essay why the nominee should be considered); and favorite West Liberty business (include 100-word essay with nomination).
Deadlines are May 31 and those making the nominations must live in Champaign or Logan counties. E-mail nominations to [email protected], or mail to West Liberty Bicentennial Celebration Committee, 8908 N. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, OH 43357.
Orders are being taken for troop banners (for those in Champaign and Logan counties) that will hang in the village from Memorial Day to Veterans Day. The banners include the photo of the service member. The $85 fee includes the large banner that will be on display, and two smaller ones. Forms are available in the West Liberty Town Hall. Photos will be scanned and returned.
Bicentennial souvenirs also are for sale in the Town Hall.
