Area drivers took center stage at Shady Bowl Speedway on Saturday winning four of five feature races. DeGraff’s Buck Purtee won the street stock and thunder cars features, Belle Center’s Austin Eaton won the compact feature and Bellefontaine’s Chris Parker won the modified feature.
The first win for Purtee on Saturday came during the street stock feature. Purtee took the lead early thanks to his pole position and never gave it up. Battling for second through fourth were Rodney Roush, Chris Parker, Jason Mahaffey and Phil Gussler Jr. Roush was also the fast qualifier, Mahaffey was the dash winner, while Purtee and Chad Small II were the heat winners.
Purtee worked his way to the front from the back of the field in the thunder cars feature. He held that spot the rest of the way to secure his second victory of the night. Scott Drake held on for second, Landen Jones finished in third, Hunter Hicks was fourth and Peyton Burba was fifth. Scott Marquis was the fast qualifier, Brad Blue won the dash and Andy Price claimed the heat.
In the compact main, Eaton jumped in front on the final 10 laps and held off the field to win. Charlie Hoepker was the runner-up, Jimmy McElfresh was third, Bryan Temple came in fourth and Jordan Sage rounded out the top five. Eaton won the A main and Casey Wynn won the B main. McElfresh was the dash winner and Sage was the fast qualifier.
Parker took over the modified feature on a restart and went on to claim the win. Josh Smith was a close second, Jerry Stapleton came in third, Logan McPherson was fourth and Terry Humphrey finished fifth. Logan McPherson was the dash winner with Brian Reeser and Smith winning the heats.
The CRS Super Trucks made their debut and saw Brian Brewer win the Ed Yoak Memorial 50. T.J. Stineman was runner-up, Brandon Huff came in third, Brian Taylor took fourth and Bailey Delflosse was fifth.
Racing returns to Shady Bowl Speedway on Saturday with the late models, street stocks, compacts and thunder cars. Action starts at 7 p.m.
