Royce K. Smith, 29, of 214 Pratt St., Apt. 8, Bellefontaine, was charged with a felony count of possession of drugs relating to a traffic stop Saturday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol about 6:20 p.m. on U.S. Route 33 near County Road 10 initiated the stop with his vehicle for an equipment violation.
While speaking to the driver, Smith, deputies said he seemed overly nervous and they observed that he was shaking. He was asked to step out of the vehicle, and during a pat down search of his person, deputies recovered a glass smoking pipe with powdery residue and a clear baggies with a white powdery substance, which later field-tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl.
K9 Thor was then deployed for a probable cause search of the vehicle. The canine alerted on the vehicle, and deputies located a baggie with a green leafy substance and marijuana grinder inside the vehicle.
Smith was placed under arrest and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
2 charged with domestic violence
Sabrina J. Mead, 23, and Jamie L. Harrington, 26, both of 12117 Urbana St., Middleburg, each were charged with domestic violence related to an incident at their residence early Sunday morning.
Deputies responded to their address about 1:20 a.m. on a report of family members reporting a fight between the pair.
Mead told deputies that she and her boyfriend Harrington had been in a confrontation that became physical. She said they both put their “hands on each other” during the incident.
Deputies noted that Mead had a fresh scratch on her neck and on her right arm.
Harrington also told deputies that the pair had been in an argument and related that he put his hands on Mead while trying to “calm her down.”
Deputies said a small child was sleeping in the bedroom where the couple had been arguing. Also in that room, deputies seized marijuana paraphernalia.
Mead was issued a summons in lieu of arrest, and Harrington was placed under arrest and lodged in the jail. A report also was forwarded to Logan County Children’s Services regarding the incident.
Semi strikes viaduct in DeGraff
Deputies responded about 7:25 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of east Miami Street in DeGraff relating to a semi tractor-trailer strikes the viaduct.
Randall A. Albritton, 52, of St. Paris, reportedly was operating the eastbound semi that struck the viaduct. The driver said he did not see the clearance sign for the viaduct.
No injuries were reported and no citations were listed with the crash report.
• Jesse W. Adlard, 18, of Saco, Maine, was cited for failure to control related to a Saturday afternoon non-injury crash on County Road 28.
Deputies report he was operating a northbound 2005 Nissan Altima just south of County Road 153 when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. Damage was light to the car.
