Paul Huffer, 47, of Lakeview, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and possession of marijuana related to a Friday evening traffic stop.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol about 5:05 p.m. observed his vehicle traveling the roadway at a high rate of speed in the area of State Route 235 near County Road 91 and initiated a traffic stop
While speaking with the driver, Huffer, officers said he showed signs of impairment. The driver also seemed confused when officers asked him if he knew the speed limit on State Route 235, stating, “Yes I do; it’s 25 mph.”
The defendant reportedly was unsteady on his feet as he exited the vehicle. Huffer advised officers he was not doing any field sobriety tests and that he had drank three beers prior to the traffic stop.
He was placed under arrest. Officers located marijuana and an open container of beer inside the motor vehicle. Huffer was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to submit to a breath sample. Huffer was cited for speed and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
