The Logan County Emergency Management Agency reports that FEMA inspectors have started to call/schedule and conduct inspections in Logan County.
The inspections are for tornado survivors who have registered for assistance through the website at http://www.disasterassistance.gov , (800) 621-FEMA, or the FEMA App.
FEMA inspectors will call to set up a time to meet with the person filing the claim.
“It is very important to answer calls from non-local numbers right now — the inspectors are coming in from all over the United States and some of the US Territories so their phones will have strange area codes,” Logan County EMA officials report. “If they can’t reach you to schedule they may report that you are declining assistance, which will stop your process and you will have to call in to get it re-started.”
No fees should be charged for any of the listed inspections or assessments.
During inspections, residents should ask to see the inspector’s ID. FEMA inspectors will have a FEMA ID Badge.
“Do not allow entry to any person who is not willing to provide proper identification,” officials said. “Residents are advised to safeguard personal information. Social Security and bank account numbers will not be required from inspections. If in doubt, do not give out information.”
Below is an image showing all of the Disaster-Related Inspections that may be needed.
Note there are different inspections needed for different purposes, so you will likely speak to inspectors from several different organizations over the course of your recovery.
Residents also are strongly encouraged to contact your local building, zoning, and/or floodplain administrator prior to repairing your damaged structure to ensure that all necessary permits are obtained.
