West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball team used a strong first half to defeat host Greeneview 44-29 on Thursday in Ohio Heritage Conference play.
The Tigers improve to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in the league, while the Rams drop to 3-5, 2-4.
WL-Salem got rolling in the opening quarter with a 16-9 run. A lopsided second quarter saw the Tigers use an 11-3 run to build a 27-12 cushion at halftime.
The Tigers went on to lead 31-17 after three quarters. WL-Salem finished off the win in the fourth quarter with a 13-12 effort.
Selena Weaver powered the Tigers with 18 points, Grace Estes had 10 points and Emily Hollar added eight points.
In junior varsity action, Greeneview edged WL-Salem 21-19. Madeline Hutton led the Tigers with nine points.
WL-Salem is back on the court Thursday at Madison Plains.
