Steven B. Kerns, 62, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, in the James Cancer Center at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born in Bellefontaine on May 21, 1953, a son of the late Merlin Ray and Bettie Jo Wehner Kerns. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Kerns.
He is survived by a son, Tim (Beth) Kerns and a daughter, Katie Kerns, two grandsons, T.J. and Hunter Kerns, and girlfriend, Kelly Costello, all of Bellefontaine; a sister-in-law, Carole Kerns of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and nieces and nephews, Ric (Kay) Kerns of Cape Coral, Fla., Ali (Doug) Ross of Orlando and Amy Kerns of Ft. Myers, Fla.
Steve was a 1971 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and worked for Northwood Stone & Asphalt, then later The Shelly Company, and retired in 2003. He then went to work for Liberty Hills Golf Club, Bellefontaine. He was a huge fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and enjoyed classic cars as well as boating.
Pastor Cheryl Sigenthaler officiates a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
