Rudolph M. “Rudy” Rogan, 81, of Bellefontaine, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
Rudy was born in Urbana on June 25, 1934, to the late Lonnie and Bertha Artis Rogan. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Perry, Howard and John Rogan.
Rudy was a graduate of Salem High School and a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 25 years of service. Rudy enjoyed bowling, watching football and playing baseball. He had a passion for teaching youngsters the game of baseball and watching their game improve. Rudy was a past member of the NAACP.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Brenda S. Horsley Rogan, whom he married in Bellefontaine on Nov. 20, 2000, and stepchildren, David Williams and Dawnisha Williams, and daughter, Rochelle Rogan, all of Bellefontaine. He also is survived by his children, Byron Rogan of Alger, Kevin (Shaia) Rogan of Marino Valley, Calif., Keith Rogan of Bellefontaine, Gary (Tonia) Rogan of Bellefontaine, Stuart Rogan of Long Beach, Calif., Cynthia (Jeff) Hall of Bellefontaine, Sharon Rogan of Marino Valley, Calif., Pam (Randy) Routt of Columbus, Todd Rogan of Bellefontaine; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; mother of his children, Betty Rogan of Bellefontaine; his siblings, Martha Rogan of Columbus, Charlotte Sinclair of Cable, Willard (Stella) Rogan of Cable, Iva Harris of Urbana, Louis Rogan of Columbus, Nancy (Ron) Evans of Springfield and Marva Rogan of Cable; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pastor Abraham Kenner officiates the funeral at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is one hour prior. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
