Riverside’s volleyball team pulled out a five-set victory over visiting West Liberty-Salem on Saturday, winning 25-18, 24-26, 20-25, 25-20, 16-14 in the season opener for both teams.

Marissa Davis piled up 33 kills, 19 digs and five blocks to pace the Pirates.
Also for Riverside, Kristin Davidson tallied 16 points and 19 digs, Shelby Giles had 13 points, five aces and five blocks, Lauren Anderson had 19 digs, Helena Faulder recorded 24 assists and Alexis Snow added 15 assists.
For the Tigers, Tory Cordell tallied 15 kills, Kaylee Harrison had nine kills and Alex Burton added eight kills. Breann Koons and Allie Yoder each had 16 assists, Olivia Ames recorded 23 digs and Hallie Strapp was 9-11 serving.
