Waynesfield Raceway Park honored Jack Hewitt for his impact on local auto racing with the Jack Hewitt Classic on Saturday.
Three classes of open-wheel racing were conducted in front of a sizable crowd. The Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series headlined the night with a $3,000 prize to the winner. Over 40 cars signed in to compete for a spot in the 24-car field.
Waynesfield regular Drew Radar led the field to the green flag with Dave Darland on the outside. Darland won the battle in turn one and led the opening lap. The only caution of the race came less than five laps in when Dallas Hewitt, Kody Swanson and Shane Cottle got together in turn one.
