The grass is growing and ball teams are chomping at the bit to get out on the fields to play.

Unfortunately, the heavy rains and snow of recent weeks have left the parks in no shape for outdoor activity, Parks Superintendent Kris Myers told the Bellefontaine Joint Parks and Recreation District Board on Tuesday evening.
“I can’t recall a year where we haven’t been able to touch some of the things we haven’t been able to get to this year,” he said of the state of parks’ preparedness.
“We’re excited where we are with the baseball and softball programs if we could just get out there and start practicing and playing games.”
