Honda and Acura cars and light trucks posted impressive sales gains and set new records for March, American Honda Motor Co. Inc. reported this week.
Honda set a new March record for sales with 128,855 vehicles sold, a 2.6 percent increase. Overall, American Honda sold142,392 Honda and Acura cars and trucks.
Honda light trucks sales were up 7 percent with 66,342 units sold while Acura car sales were up 35.2 percent behind a 43 percent leap in sales for the Marysville-produced Acura TLX American Honda sold 4,014 TLXs in March.
Sales of the Acura RDX, which is produced at East Liberty, hit the 4,398 mark, a 16.7 percent increase. All-new 2019 RDX model is slated for a summer debut.
“Honda’s deep truck lineup helped the brand to a new March record, while Honda cars continue to pull their weight despite current market forces,” said Henio Arcangeli Jr., senior vice president of the Automobile Division and general manager of Honda Sales.
