Pauline Jewel Smith, 92, of West Liberty and formerly of Springfield, passed away at 1:13 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018, at her residence.
She was born in Huntland, Tenn., on Aug. 26, 1925, to the late Charles and Annie Bell Kennedy Powell.
On Sept. 13, 1953, in Springfield, she married Hobart E. Smith and he preceded her in death, Sept. 14, 1993. A son, Ronald Wilt, and a sister, Eva Brougher, also preceded Pauline in death.
She is survived by her children, Donald (Doris) Wilt of Mechanicsburg, Virginia (Rodger) Jones of West Liberty and Phyllis “Pinky” Lemon of and Karen Botz, both of Springfield; grandchildren, Dusty Jackson, Tabitha Keener, Sara (Craig) Boling, Leslie Lemon and Scott (Amanda) Lemon; 11 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Lee Lemon; siblings, James (Mary) Powell of Springfield, and Virginia (Joe) Barksdale of De Moines, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Pauline worked at Harts in Springfield for 10 years. She enjoyed doing puzzles, watching game shows, sewing, shopping and playing bingo. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. All who knew Pauline will miss her.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty, where Pastor Rodger Herrig officiates a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 25, followed by a 2 p.m. graveside service at Rose Hill Burial Park, 4781 S. Charleston Pike, Springfield.
