Jerry Nelson, 33, and Katie Hale 32, both of Russells Point, each wasarrested for felony drug charges as a result of a traffic stop about 6:40 p.m. Friday.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department observed a vehicle reportedly speeding on State Route 235 near State Route 274 and initiated the stop. Upon speaking to the driver, criminal indicators were observed. A consent search was conducted and officers recovered several drug items from the vehicle.
Two passengers, Nelson and Hale, were arrested and taken into custody. Once at the Logan County Jail, corrections staff recovered a clear capsule containing heroin in Nelson’s pants.
Nelson was charged with three counts of felony possession of drugs and one count of illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility. Hale was charged with felony possession of drugs and obstruction of official business.
