Several Ohio Hi-Point Career Center students will advanced to the SkillsUSA Ohio State Championships at the end of March after competing at the regional level.
Students advancing to the state contest include:
• Ohio Hi-Point Construction Trades students Preston Brien (Ridgemont) and Ian Cable (Benjamin Logan) received Gold and Bronze, respectively, in Carpentry.
• Briggs Defibaugh (Benjamin Logan), an Ohio Hi-Point Engineering Academy student earned Gold in CNC Turning.
• Cosmetology students Tawshia Keen (Kenton) and Nicolette Dague (Indian Lake) earned Silver in Esthetics and Nail Care, respectively.
• Graphic and Media Arts students Gwyneth Brey (Marysville) and Candy Bailey (Urbana) earned Silver and Bronze, respectively in Photography.
• From Ohio Hi-Point’s Engineering satellite program at Marysville Early College High School, Payton Perce earned Bronze in CNC Milling.
These students will compete with over 5,000 competitors in 100 contests in 16 career pathways for the title of best in Ohio in their respective career fields.
Business and industry partners, instructors, and vendors work with the students to showcase Career and Technical Education in Ohio. The State Championships are offered in a hybrid format, allowing in-person and virtual contests for students.
Nearly 30 Ohio Hi-Point students competed virtually in the Southwest Ohio SkillsUSA Regional event in February.
