A 19-year-old city woman was lodged in the Logan County Jail after an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department physically restrained her from pummeling another woman at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the intersection of Main Street and Sandusky Avenue.
Siera N. Mathews, 321 Kennedy St., was charged with persistent disorderly conduct in the altercation.
An officer was on patrol and observed Mathews repeatedly striking Kristen Fulkerson of Bellefontaine outside of Mathews’ unattended car. Mathews had Fulkerson on the ground and continued to hit her with closed fists, ignoring the officer’s commands to stop and Fulkerson’s pleas to stop.
The officer pulled Mathews from atop Fulkerson, took the suspect to the ground and detained her.
She was upset over a spilt cup of soda in her car. Fulkerson said she exited the car to avoid further confrontation when Mathews came to a stop in traffic. Mathews exited the vehicle and left it in a lane of travel to chase her down. A witness also told the officer that Mathews was the aggressor.
Mathews’ car was moved from the roadway and parked in a lot at the southwest corner of the intersection.
