Parents of Indian Lake students are being encouraged to take advantage of two new electronic services as the school year begins, interim Superintendent Rob Underwood told the board of education at the Monday evening meeting.
The new School Messenger app allows students, parents or other interested community members to subscribe to Indian Lake School District alerts simply by texting the letter “Y” or “Yes” to 67587 from a mobile phone.
The new School Messenger app will allow parents or other interested community members to receive up-to-date information about cancellations, in-school emergencies or other instances district administrators feel warrant dissemination to the entire student and parent base, while OneView Documents will allow families to store, change and save electronic information that previously required paperwork.
“The new School Messenger app will allow us to email, text and call all in one,” Underwood said. “It’s an extension of what we used in the past, but the old system was a little more cumbersome.”
