Board of education members in a regular meeting Monday heard a proposal to install the 75-megawatt solar array in a field east of the high school football stadium.
According to information from Solar Planet, he Columbus-based firm proposing the project, the district could save at least $7,000 in energy costs annually, and reduce by about a third the district’s electricity use per year.

As part of a 25-year agreement with Solar Planet, the district fundamentally leases the equipment and pays for the service through energy savings. Such a contract would also afford the school district the chance to purchase the system along the way, or upon conclusion of the contract.
