To bridge the gap until Mary Rutan Hospital’s new urgent care center opens in 2017, Mary Rutan Hospital is temporarily operating Mary Rutan Hospital Convenience Clinic, a non-emergency clinic next to the MRH Emergency Department, 205 E. Palmer Ave.

The clinic opened Monday as a walk-in alternative to the emergency department when patients’ primary care physicians are not available, and when they are not sick or injured enough to receive care in the emergency department.
“It is not our intent to compete with family doctors, but rather complement the services these physicians provide by giving patients an option for the treatment of uncomplicated care when their primary care providers aren’t available,” said Tom Denbow, vice president of physician integration at MRH.
The clinic is a low-cost alternative to an ER visit for minor, everyday ailments such as allergies, sinus infection, cough and cold, sore throats, bronchitis, respiratory infections, ear pain, eye infections, fevers, flu-like symptoms, upset stomach, vomiting and diarrhea, insect bites, sprains and strains, first and minor second degree burns, fractures of small bones (toes, feet, fingers), minor cuts, minor lacerations/stitches, scrapes and bruises, skin rashes, urinary burning, asthma, minor back pain and migraine headaches.
The clinic will accept self-pay patients and most types of insurance.
Hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week with no appointments necessary.

Mary Rutan Hospital continues its regional outreach with the impending opening of a new, expanded clinic in Urbana.
Next month, the hospital will open a regional clinic in Urbana that will offer specialists in pediatrics, adult primary care, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery urology and orthopedics.
The clinic is set to open to the public in July at 1880 E. U.S. Route 36, Urbana. Additional services are set to include x-ray, full lab services and physical therapy, according to information circulated by the hospital.
This will actually be the second year that Mary Rutan Hospital has offered services in Champaign County. Last year, the hospital operated out of 848 Scioto St., offering ob-gyn, as well as adult and pediatric primary care services.
The upgraded facility is approximately four times larger than the previous office, according to hospital literature.
“We are always challenging ourselves to make the health care experience better and more convenient for our patients,” said Mary Rutan Hospital President and CEO Mandy Goble.
“We are grateful to the Champaign County community for their support and for the opportunity to invest further in expanding excellent, local health care.”
