By the end of the summer, Logan County residents will have a one-stop hotline they can call to learn about what social services assistance, volunteer opportunities and a wide range of other community services.
The Access Resources Coalition plans to kick off the 211 HelpLine during the Coordinators of Logan County Agency Services meeting at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 25 at Union Station, 613 Hamilton St.
Much like 911 or 411, 211 is an around-the-clock information and referral hotline that residents can use to get quick access to help — specifically information and links to social services, non-emergency assistance and quick access to crisis hotlines, United Way of Logan County Director Dave Bezusko explained.
Local organizations are working with the Delaware, Ohio-based company HelpLine, which received the contract to manage the service, to build the database of local services.
“The biggest challenge right now is to get all the social services agencies to get their information onto this database,” Mr. Bezusko said, noting that the United Way currently has 152 social service providers in its incomplete database. “We’re working to try to make sure the online database is as accurate and up-to-date as possible.”
