Carlos Apricio, 38, of 425 E. Brown Ave., was charged Saturday with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after a single-vehicle crash at 10:45 a.m. near his residence. He also was cited for no operator’s license and failure to control.
His westbound pickup truck hit a utility pole in the 500 block of east Brown Avenue, snapped off the pole, knocked down communication lines and heavily damaged his pickup.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department detected an odor of alcohol on the motorist and administered field sobriety tests which indicated he was impaired by alcohol. Breath tests were slightly more than 0.19.
This was his second OVI arrest in the past two weeks.
A grass truck and squad from the Bellefontaine Fire and EMS Department responded to take care of the downed lines. There were no injuries.
Domestic charge lands man in jail
William E. Cooper II, 36, of 405 N. Madriver St., was charged Sunday with domestic violence.
Around 1:25 a.m., officers talked with Amber Scott, of the same address, who told them the suspect pushed her around in a hallway.
Officers observed damage to a wall and an injury to the victim’s chin.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
